FHE at the Evan's

December 21, 2009

Each month my dad's family gets together for a Family Home Evening. In December we got together at the Evan's house for the reading of Luke 2 and a cookie exchange. The kids were great sports about wearing the nativity costumes that I "threw" together earlier in the day with the help of my mom. They were too cute and did a great job. The cookies were super yummy too!

Tempe Town Lake Boat Parade

December 12, 2009

We took our first trip to the boat parade last year. I think it was the tenth birthday celebration of the parade. The boys really had fun watching the different boats go by and seeing how each boat was decorated differently. They came right up next to where we were sitting and we shouted Merry Christmas to each of the boats. One man was even brave enought to try and kayak the route. We're glad we went and that we got to go with Heather and Kristi and the rest of the Johnson's. We're definitely going to try to make the parade again this year.

Gingerbread Train

Great Grandma and Grandpa Radcliff brought the kids an early Christmas present, a gingerbread train. We had fun assembling and decorating it as a family.

They wanted it to look just like the one on the box.

McKay loved the green icing (after we were done using it).

The train didn't look like this for very long. As soon as we were done, the boys started devouring it. They had a great time while they were at it though.

O Christmas Tree

The boys and Aaron did a great job getting our Christmas tree up. Our tree is an anything goes type, we use all the ornaments we've collected over the years. Every year the kids get an ornament and they love looking back at the ornaments they've collected.

Sedona Trip

Thanksgiving weekend we were able to make a trip to Sedona to see the Red Rock Fantasy of Lights. Luckily the weather was perfect and the boys had a great time. Before going home we stopped at Red Rock State Park and took a hike. The boys were real troopers, parts of the hike were pretty steep and next to sheer drop offs. When we got to the top of the mountain it was worth the work, the views were gorgeous. We're so thankful for the time that we were able to spend together as a family and enjoy our beautiful state.

McKay's 4th Birthday

McKay turned 4 on November 17, 2009. He chose to have a Spider Man cake. It wasn't anything special, but we did get some Spider Man decorations to go on the sides. McKay picked out the sprinkles, they were his favorite part.

The boys love the Sega Sonic games so I thought this one for the Wii would be similar. I was wrong, the game is totally different. Needless to say, it hasn't gotten much play time around our house.

McKay was so excited to get a working controller for the xbox. My brother gave us the xbox for Christmas a couple years ago and loaded it with thousands of games, but we hadn't been able to play it for a while because we needed new controllers.

McKay had a wonderful birthday. A big thanks to our family for helping make his birthday so special!

Halloween 2009

Parker and Dallin participated in their school's cotume parade. Dallin was The Thing from Fantastic Four and Parker was a magician. Parker was lucky to have a costume since he decided what he wanted to be the day before Halloween. I was up late sewing his cape, cumberbund and bow tie on Halloween Eve. It was worth it though, he really liked his costume.

Dallin switched up his costume for Halloween night and went as a pirate. McKay was Darth Vader (minus the mask) and Sophie was a ladybug. I was so excited to find her costume for $3 at Savers two days before Halloween. She looked so cute!
