While at the kitchen sink in February I spotted a fruit fly buzzing around me. When it finally landed I took a swing. Unfortunately, it landed on the kitchen window and when I smacked the fly I also cracked the window. Yes, I know, not a very bright idea. But the flies had been bothering me for quite some time and I just had to get rid of it. So we called for some quotes and ended up with a whole house of new energy efficient windows.
The house originally had single pane aluminum windows. The boys bedroom window looked like one side was plexiglass and our bedroom window was so hard to open that I would be in real trouble if I had to get out of it in an emergency. We are looking forward to the summer to see if we notice a difference in our energy bills (in combination with the new air conditioner we put on last October). Here is the house before:
Removing the living room window
The new windows are vinyl dual pane with gas in between and tinted. The house is a little darker, kind of like it's wearing sunglasses. That was one thing that I had to get used to. But they do look nice.
The window that started it all
The house after is not much different besides the white vinyl frames, but it does look a little bit updated.
And yes, I have learned my lesson. No more hitting flies on the window.

I love the dual-paned windows at our new house. I noticed a big difference between our old house and this during the winter (but that could've been due to any number of factors), so I'm curious to see how well they help this summer. Good luck with yours! You do have a nice additional feature with the tint that will probably help a lot. -- Shelly
I really like the new windows with the white vinyl. Hope they help!
i absolutely love your new windows. Trisha wants a bid... i told her to call u and get one from your guy!
I love your new windows. I am sure that your bill will be lower this summer and you'll save money. Pretty soon the ac and windows will have paid for themselves.
In our new house the windows just have the Low E or something like that and our bill is considerably lower than it was when we lived by you, and we live in a bigger house now.
I think you made a good investment.

What really stinks is when you hit a mosquito onthe inside of your car window. Thanks alot Dale! That wasn't fun replacing at all.
We actually have new windows in our front living room, and we loce the ease of cleaning them, as well as how it keeps our bill down!
