While Dad's Away . . .

I had lots of time to entertain the boys by myself while Aaron was away at Scout Camp. On Monday, the day that he left, we left our house at 9am and didn't get back home until 8:30pm. It was a long day, but we had fun with friends and cousins. The kids and I were definitely worn out by the end of the day.

We started out by going to our summer movie fun movie, Horton Hears a Who. The boys did great and so did Sophie. I have a feeling next summer it's not going to be as easy to go to the movies with Sophie toddling around.

When the movie was over we went to the Smith's house and ate lunch and let the kids play for a bit while Sophie took a nap. Then it was off again to go swimming. We drove to Mesquite Groves pool but when we got there it looked pretty crowded. I wasn't feeling too confident about watching all my kids at a new pool with lots of people around. So, we drove back to Perry pool. It turned out to be the perfect choice. We got there about half an hour before the pool closed and they said we could go in for free. The pool was great and there was hardly anyone there. I would love to go back sometime. I just wish these great pools were closer to our house.

After swimming we drove to my sister Kristi's house for dinner. We had a picnic in the backyard. The weather was great for June.

After dinner we walked over to the park. I love the way newer neighborhoods scatter parks throughout the development. Sometimes I wish our park was a little bit closer.

As we walked the boys saw lots of ant hills and took their time destroying them. Most had been fixed by the time we walked home.

About two minutes after we got to the toys Dallin informed me that he had to go to the bathroom. I wouldn't have been too bugged by that except for the fact that I had asked each boy specifically if they needed to go to the bathroom before we left. Well, next thing I know, I turn around and there is Dallin squatting under the ramada going to the bathroom. As quickly as I could I pulled up his pants and told him he'd just have to hold it. I feel bad for the poor teenage boys that had to see this happening as they walked down the sidewalk toward the basketball court. Dallin ended up standing by the stroller with dirty pants while the other kids played. You can tell he wasn't too happy that we didn't go straight back to Kristi's house.

About ten minutes after Dallin's bathroom incident Parker let me know that he had to go to the bathroom. This time I decided we better go back even though the kids had barely gotten a chance to play. Luckily Parker was able to hold it for a little while because they stopped to roll in the grass on the way back. What a day!
