Keepin' Busy

In an effort to avoid as many tantrums as possible, we've been on the move every day this week. We started out today by going to Fry's to buy some goodies for my brother Karl. He entered the MTC last Wednesday and we wanted to send him something for Easter, his first holiday away from us (sniffle, sniffle). The kids were very helpful and were thinking only of Karl, I'm sure, while they loaded the cart with loads of goodies.

Next, we went to storytime at the library. As we pulled into the parking lot I went into a bit of a panic thinking they weren't having it today, there were hardly any cars there. Being spring break I expected it to be packed. Luckily, storytime was still on and we practically had the room to ourselves! I was happy Parker was able to come with us, he and Harrison were the most lively kids there!

After the library we headed next door to the post office to mail Karl's package. Instead of being empty as I had hoped, it was packed. I had four kids, the package, and about 13 people in front of me with two clerks processing orders. Talk about torture! I know some of you are amazing and could probably keep your children amused quite well as you stand in line for what seems like forever, I do not have that talent. It was a long 30 minutes.

Finally, we made our way to the Natural History Museum. This museum is in downtown Mesa just down the street from the Museum for Youth. I think I went when I was in elementary school, but can't remember that far back (anyone else have this problem?). The kids loved it! It has a dinosaur mountain that is three stories tall, a special feathered dinosaur exhibit, an activity room (coloring, puzzles, dinosaur figures), rock displays, dinosaur skeletons, Arizona info, and a place outside where the kids can pan for gold. We proabably would have stayed a little longer, but our parking spot was only good for two hours. It was definitely worth the price of admission!

The boys really did a great job today. On the agenda for tomorrow: lazy pj day!

Stephanie, You are such a fun mom. I'm always inspired by your blog. What a fun trip to the museum. Thinking about taking the children to the post office makes me shudder. I put off getting switching my UT license to an AZ one for two years because I dreaded taking them all to the MVD. When I finally did it, two week ago, I had to end up making 2 trips to the MVD 30 minutes to my house to get documents that they didn't say I needed to have when I called and looked on the web and on the way back to Maricopa to get my marriage license I got a speeding ticket! Anyway, I feel for you. :)

I love your new header, awesome!
That sounds like a fun, busy day. 30 minutes at the post office??!! Isn't that a hard place to have busy kids??! Next time call and leave them with me!

I am amazed at all of the things you fit in before naptime in one day.

I remember in December waiting in line to mail my Christmas packages, feeding Sadie crackers constantly, and having to hold her most of the time so she wouldn't run off. Meanwhile, Amelia made friends with a group of kids whose moms were also mailing packages. One of the kids kept trying to pick her up, which she didn't like and neither did I. It was a VERY long 30 minutes for us too!

How much was the admission to the Natural History Museum? I've been wanting to go there.

Was that the last storytime? I feel like it was supposed to end mid to late March??

We're having two lazy days in a row Thanks to Amelia being sick. Sadie is going a little bit nuts! Hopefully we'll be well enough for the park tomorrow. Thanks for the fun post!
