Little Farmer

Aaron has almost completed the chicken run. He just has a few touch ups here and there. Parker enjoys helping his dad keep the chickens fed and happy. He checks on them throughout the day to make sure that they're okay. We recently moved the feed up into the house portion of the run. Parker was worried that they wouldn't know where it was, so he layed some leaves on the ramp hoping to lead them up into the house.

The dark chickens are our "egg layers". Although both types of chickens will lay eggs, this type will lay more than the other. They are also a lot smaller than the light colored chickens.

The light chickens are our "meat chickens". And yes, Aaron is going to be taking care of all the preparations to get them to the table. He hopes this experience will help us to become self-reliant, at least in the chicken and egg department.

I think it's so cool that you are doing this (I wouldn't want to be in charge of the meat chicken either though). It looks like your kids are going to have so much fun and learn so much!

Parker looks so proud of his leaves on the ramp. I love it.
