The cub scouts made rockets for pack meeting in May. The rockets were very easy to make. They just rolled a piece of paper around a piece of pvc pipe, taped it shut, added a bouncy ball to the top, taped it in place, and put it on the launcher. The rockets went really high and the boys loved chasing them. Each of the boys made a couple rockets.
Dallin added fins to his rocket to see how it would fly. The rockets without fins actually seemed to do better.
We had our meeting at the elementary school so there was plenty of room for launching the rockets.
Parker received his Wolf award at this pack meeting. Our cub master always thinks of something for the boys to do before they receive their advancements. This time each of the boys had to catch a rocket as it was falling. Parker had a tough time catching his but got help from the other scouts.
Parker pinned the Wolf pin on my shirt. I was one of Parker's den moms and it was fun to have that experience together. Now I'm in the Webelos den so I might have Parker when he turns ten.
Popsicles were a great treat when we were done with the rockets. It was a hot day! You can tell Sophie loves popsicles, she's trying to grab McKay's after she already finished hers.
