Maricopa County Fair

April 15, 2010

I hadn't been to the Maricopa County Fair since I was little and decided that it would be fun to take the kids. I remembered my mom and dad taking us when we were little to see my cousins' animals at the fair. There weren't as many animals as I remembered and I don't know that we'll go back for a couple years.

The kids enjoyed this "Farmer for a Day" exhibit. My aunt and uncle were actually running the booth when we came. It was a fun surprise to see them. The boys had fun milking the cow and collecting eggs, fruits, and vegetables.

We stopped to watch some kids showing their sheep. The boys had no clue what "showing" meant and it didn't keep their attention. They had more fun playing on the bleachers.

Finally we headed to the rides. I saved the rides for last since I knew they wouldn't want to do anything else once we got to the ride area. Parker and Dallin each read some books and got four free ride tickets. Luckily they were okay with sharing with McKay. The ticket prices were outrageous and I wasn't going to spend money for more rides. I think it would have been okay if we got the unlimited wristbands, but we would have to stay several hours to make the wristbands worth the cost.

After finishing the rides we bought some cotton candy and headed for the car. The kids love cotton candy, including Sophie. She pretty much threw a fit when it was gone! They were all a sticky mess for the ride home.
